5 tips to shine your day
How many times a day have you catch yourself thinking “Why am I feeling so jumpy”, “why am I feeling cranky, so off?”, and thought to yourself “If I could only something to do or some pill to take to feel better I’ll take it!”. Well, there is something to do! No potions needed! I believe your morning routine can have a great impact on your day. I’ve tried a lot of stuff over the years trying to keep myself positive during the day. I’ve noticed some things that had really improved my life, and in fact, some even have studies to back that up, about how essential they are for a healthier life.
1. Cheese!
First of all smile. I know that it may seem unnecessary to mention, BUT I’m sure that not everyone’s way that our body uses to fill ourselves with joy and happiness. Try to smile and be is paying much attention to it during the days and particularly in the morning. Smiling it’s the best really really angry at the same time, right now! Try It! Well you can’t, aren’t you?! Now it makes sense?
So first thing first when you wake up in your bed, smile, be happy, cause why not? You have a bed, you’re healthy, it’s not taken for granted.
2. Thanks.
Giving thanks is the basis for all positive thinking. By being grateful for the good things you have in life you let the world know you appreciate them, and you know how to “handle” this stuff, so it only makes sense that the universe will get you more goodies popped up in your life. When you start your day by acknowledging all the good that you already own in life it will bust your energy and defiantly extend your smile.
Then when you’re in your bed just woke up, smiling, spread some thanks to the universe, to god, and appreciate what you already have. Your bed, your home, your family, friends, job, whatever it is that you’re grateful for.
3. Elixir of life.
I’m sure we’ve all heard since we were kids that water is so important and necessary. A few years later (when aging knocks) some more stuff adds to that like it can stretch your skin, make it softer, detox your body and etc. Well, it all true!
Now I know we all got used to open our mornings with a coffee or some kind of healthy juice or a smoothie which is great, BUT it’ll be way more efficient to do something else first. After a long night of fasting, the body needs to restart the digestive system and the metabolism, and water has been proved to be the most effective thing for that job.
When you get out of bed, go wash your teeth, clean your face and then straight to the kitchen and grab 2 glasses of water to turn on your body. Drink it up!
4. Namaste.
I guess you all have heard about yoga before as a type of workout. But I’m not sure how many of you known how beneficial it can be when you do it first thing in the morning.
Overnight your body turns off and like the water wakes up your digestive system, the yoga can do the job for the rest of your body. Overnight, our muscles rest and not moving, meanwhile, layers of connective tissue and bodily fluid build up between them, if we won’t stretch them out when we wake up these layers will build up and that can cost us aches. Therefore it’s so important to do some stretches first thing in the morning. I know not everyone has 30-60 min in the morning for it (which can be awesome) but even 10-15 min of some poses to release the body is perfect.
Fan fact, studies show that yoga in the morning can actually release anxiety and stress and make us happier, so I guess it’s worth the try and effort.
I’m not an expert in yoga techniques, but I know someone who is!
I definitely got my moves from her. Zoe Bray-Cotton, she’s the one. You can check her IG page yoga.burn for info.
5. Get your groove on!
That’s by far my favorite part of my mornings! Music is one of my favorite things in the world, and I tend to believe that everybody loves music, of course, each one and his taste.
Soo after you wake up, smiled at the world, said thanks to the universe, turned on your body inside out, mentally and physically, now it’s time to dedicate to yourself 5 more minutes (the more the better;) and put that song that always make your body move and dance away!
To sum it up…
I know it’s challenging to adopt new habits. Especially because we, people, tend to focus more on the old habits we’re abandoning (that we got used to already) and less on the new good thing we’re adopting.
Take it as a new ritual for your own good, well it is. To make a change you have to adopt that new thing into your character. To maintain that it’ll be great if you’ll do it for 21 days (that’s the time it takes to maintain a new habit into your routine, into your character).
Good luck guys! I can’t wait to hear how it worked for you!
